Poor Blacks Succeed if they know Black American History

NOTE: This article was written as a comment to Juan Williams’ recent article “Say It Loudly: Poor Blacks Can Succeed” The entire text can be found at Steve Franks “California Political News and Views

By Jeffers M. Dodge December 28, 2006

I am a tall white fair-haired male political activist who ran for State Assembly in the 47th District. I lost to incumbent Karen Bass a black woman. I ran on a platform of “Sound Fiscal Policy.”

The neighborhood in my district that needs the most help is the area surrounding Leimert Park, the epicenter of Black American arts and culture and is considered part of South Central Los Angeles. This district is the responsibility of Karen Bass our allegedly great Democratic Black Assemblywoman. She has failed to buck the liberal set of values that keep the Black Americans in 21st Century slavery.

Gangs are growing, Crime is up, Drugs are flowing, to many abortions. There is “Wage Degradation” high unemployment, bad, very bad schools, and what does Karen Bass do while she is up there in Sacramento? She hangs out with known felons. People who have broken the law to get themselves and their friends elected.

I would frequently attend lectures and forums and give speeches and press conferences in the neighborhood. The most striking comment that was expressed to me as a candidate is one that I have heard as long as I remember. “There Isn’t Enough Money.”

My response is there are billions spent in this neighborhood over the past decade, probably more than any other neighborhood on the west cost. My question is where does all this money go? It is supposed to go to community centers for lock-key kids, drug rehab centers gang prevention, homelessness, etc, etc., etc., but most importantly it is supposed to go to the schools in this neighborhood.

How did Karen Bass raise almost three quarters of a million dollars just for her campaign and more importantly what happened to that money? It did not go into the District, I can tell you that.

As a candidate my message is as follows, “There are few social issues that sound economic policy, premised on incentives and competition, cannot solve. Those social issues that cannot be dealt with in economic terms should be left to the providence of the people not the legislature.” This would include dealing with the problem of illegal immigration and a complete modernization of the public k-12 school system and our pension system. We have the tools to make the working poor rich and I intend to introduce them as soon as I am elected.

There is no room in the 21st Century for bigotry. We all have our issues that we have to live with. I have said this many times, “Get off drugs, go back to school, stay married, love your children, go to church, get a job and take responsibilities for your actions.”

Together we built America and made it the most tolerant country in the world. A new and insidious enemy, Islamo Fascism, is threatening all of us equally and we need to stick together to defend it. Get rid of the old African American leaders that highlight and emphasize victimhood and embrace the new crop of Black American Leaders such as the Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, Ted Hayes, Star Parker, Shelby Steel, and Alveda King.

Learn about Black American History – about who voted for the 13th Amendment to end slavery. Who wrote and voted for the 15th Amendment concerning civil rights, who started the KKK and why. If all Black Americans cannot answer these question they deserve to still live on the plantation.

Get some answers by watching this 10-minute video on “Black America” I distributed during my campaign. http://votedodge.com/blackamericans.html

The Favour Factory

Jeffers Dodge December 20, 2006

The last election in California, in my opinion, was very amusing. Aside from my own sophomoric attempts at delivering the Republican message most of my constituency voted for Arnold because Angelides was a wimp. OK, I admit I was not a good candidate even though I bought in a national figure to kick off my campaign. However, I am ten times the candidate I was when I started and next time around is going to be a huge improvement. How can I say this with such confidence? Well because I learned that I cannot rely on any help from anyone. Which is OK because in my particular district it is considered a suicide race.

But what does that tell you about how this party is run? From my observation the only massively successful component of the campaign was Steve Schmidt’s modernization of the data base operations.

On both the state and national level our party suffered a sever identity crises because of the confusion of our Republican Principals. Too much spending and more importantly an ill-defined message regarding illegal immigration. This identity crises came directly from Sacramento and Washington. Steve Schmidt was preeminently involved in both campaigns.

I am a newbie (36 months) in this game and coming from the battlefields of artist development in the entertainment business I was again amused at how behind the Republican Party was in its ability to clearly deliver a message. In this cycle the Dems have aggressively, with unprincipled zeal I might add, defined the Republican Party without authoring a message of their own. Go figure…

Is an independent fund for voter registration a good idea? I want to know why there wasn’t one in the first place in California or Los Angeles County? That answer would make a great book on how not to run a business.

The arrogance of power… One of the primary principles of the Republican Party is; politics is local, government is local and the less the better. However, the last California campaign was run like an Authoritarian Regime complete with vague promises in the shape of a carrot and reckless abandonment of core principals with the slogan “I’ll do anything to win.”

Why don’t we solicit donations for the counties instead of having the counties collect money for the state?

Once a Republican always a Republican – or so it seemed until this last election cycle. People are abandoning the Party with good reason — I think about it every day. Reckless abandonment comes to mind as I observed, with further amusement, the lack of attention paid to Colleges, Universities and schools in general. My 12-year-old son wonders the same thing…. He is constantly annoyed at the lack of like-minded kids to play war games with.
You mean there hasn’t been any coordinated efforts between the Party, volunteers groups and the legislators to ensure that the Lincoln Clubs vendor program is working?

There are several major elements missing from the to-do list. As a matter of fact the most important element was missing.

If this organization was run like a corporation the CEO should have been fired and or should have resigned a log time ago.

The Product of this corporation is our Republican Principals, the salesmen are the candidates and the Party is the support team. The currency is the facts, reason and truth and success is measured by registration. We are bankrupt.

A Blue Ribbon panel to brainstorm a new idea sounds like it is part of the “Favour Factory” that permeates and undermines the party. Do not let this happen — do not subvert the illusion of progress. Think success, think motivations, agendas — who has them and who doesn’t. We should convene a panel to create the panel.

In terms of fate? Fate lies in facts, reason and the actionable story of truth it conveys. The conveyer of this story is where the perception gets its credibility and Ronald Reagan was the master.

As a national party we own the facts, reason and truth but we don’t have a good storyteller. We have lost the means of conveying the truth such as education, journalism and entertainment, which now are the solely owned subsidiaries of the Democratic Party.
Ask me and I will tell you how to win. It is premised on just one word…

The Only Flaw of Capitalism

By Jeffers M. Dodge December 23, 2006

It goes without saying that Democrats in their feeble attempt to undermine the Bush Administration have successfully undermined the advancement of Free Market Democracy. The Democrats are living up to their nickname, “Useful Idiots,” and have inadvertently given power to our enemies – the Islamofascist.

Now as the newly crowned queens of American political power take their seats at the head of the table in Congress they face the harsh reality of the stink of war. Their obvious impotence will be reveled as they try to concoct a perception of a strong defense against a ruthless enemy. They will fail because the tee hugging passivists and appeasers of far left have a different agenda concerning the war on terror than the moderate JFK Democrats. Not even Viagra can help them now.

The Democrats just don’t get it. They visualize a communal utopia and believe it already exist and they are right in believing the Republicans are the enemy of this fantasy. While the Republicans visualize a perfect world and know their jihad is to achieve freedom they also understand they can never achieve perfect freedom due to human nature’s desire to control others, (or loot other’s production). This control is the epitome of the leftist utopia and the natural antipathy for the Republicans. Funny how that works. So when Islamofascists challenge the Republican reality they automatically become the friend of the Democrat who have always been in a struggle for dominance in American Economy. As we are starting to see this won’t last because now that the Democrats have power they have to face the same reality.

So in order to save face they will sacrifice the blood and treasures already expended and pull the plug on funding the war. This of course means the enemy of facts, reason and objective reality, the Islamofascist and the Democrats, will win at the expense of a million lives, chaos and ultimately a United States that has to give up its liberties to protect itself from attacks on the homeland — hence government control by the Democrats.

But before this can play itself out we will be faced with a choice? For the second time in history we will consider the use of the ultimate weapon to solve the dilemma we Republicans find ourselves in? We fought for freedom and our freedom bought us prosperity and our prosperity brought us other’s envy and this envy has brought us to the brink of annihilation. This is the only flaw of Capitalism.

Not until the whole world lives under free market democracy and Islam, in its current form, is outlawed will we see peace. I swear this is a true statement.

The Islamofascist are not a construct of American Imperialism but instead a result of Leftism.

Chile’s Pinochet dies at 91 - Lessons for Iraq?

Augusto Pinochet

Former dictator assumed power in 1973 coup, led Andean nation for 17 years

By Jeffers M. Dodge December 10, 2006

While many might believe that those on the Right of American politics pose a bigger threat to freedom and the well-being of the American people, nothing could be further from the truth. Today, the much bigger threat comes instead from the Left or the liberal side of the American politics, for it is these socialists who are either indifferent to – or squarely in favor of – state rule, central planning, the elimination of the family, God and private property. What would happen if President Hillary Clinton’s administration had to deal with a terrorist attack in New York Harbor? You better believe she would be using torture, and the suspension of habeas corpus and other civil liberties for suspected terrorists. She would over react like Janet Reno in Texas. These over reactions constitute a much more ominous threat to our freedom and well-being than anything the American Right would consider. Augusto Pinochet may have used brutal force to instill Democracy to overcome the brital effects of Communisim, but today Chile is one of the most productive and free societies in the world, we may want to take a lesson from him in terms of Iraq.

December 10, 2006, 3:12 PM EST

SANTIAGO, Chile — Gen. Augusto Pinochet, who overthrew Chile’s democratically elected Marxist president in a bloody coup and ruled this Andean nation for 17 years, died Sunday. He was 91.

Hundreds of supporters of the former dictator, some weeping, gathered in front of the hospital chanting “Pinochet! Pinochet! Long Live Pinochet!”

The office of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who had been a close ally of Pinochet, said she was “greatly saddened” by his death.

Pinochet took power on Sept. 11, 1973, demanding an unconditional surrender from Leftist President Salvador Allende as warplanes bombed the presidential palace in downtown Santiago. Instead, Allende committed suicide with a submachine gun he had received as a gift from Fidel Castro.

As the mustachioed Pinochet crushed dissent during his 1973-90 rule, he left little doubt about who was in charge. “Not a leaf moves in this country if I’m not moving it,” he once said.

Pinochet, born Nov. 25, 1915, as the son of a customs official in the port of Valparaiso, was commander of the army at the time of the 1973 coup, appointed 19 days earlier by the president he toppled.

Allegedly, the CIA had tried for months to destabilize the Allende government, including financing a truckers strike that paralyzed the delivery of goods across Chile, but Washington denied having anything to do with the coup.

In the days following Pinochet’s seizure of power, soldiers carried out mass arrests of leftists. Tanks rumbled through the streets of the capital.

Many detainees, including Leftist American journalists Charles Horman and Frank Teruggi, were herded into the National Stadium, which became a torture and detention center. The Americans were among those executed by the Chilean military, their deaths chronicled in the Leftist 1982 film “Missing.”

Pinochet pledged to stay in power “only as long as circumstances demand it,” but soon after seizing the presidency, he said he had “goals, not deadlines.”

He disbanded Congress, banned political activity and started a harsh anti-leftist repression.

Within years, Chile and other South American countries with right-wing governments launched Operation Condor to eliminate leftist dissidents abroad. One of Operation Condor’s victims was former Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier, who was killed along with his American aide, Ronni Moffitt, when a bomb shattered their car in Washington in 1976.

Pinochet defended his authoritarian rule as a bulwark against communism — and even claimed part of the credit for the collapse of communism. He repeatedly said he had nothing to ask forgiveness for.

“I see myself as a good angel,” he told a Miami Spanish-language television station in 2004.

With his raspy voice, he often spoke in a lower-class vernacular that comedians delighted in mimicking. But his off-the-cuff comments sometimes got him into trouble.

Once, he embarrassed the government by saying that the German army was made up of “marijuana smokers, homosexuals, long-haired unionists.”

Shrewd and firmly in command of his army, Pinochet saw himself as the leader of a crusade to build a society free of communism. Amid the upheaval in 1973, the economy was in near ruins, partly due to the leftist destabilization efforts and President Salvador Allende’s lust for power and greed in order to consolidate power. Socialization of the means of production spread rapidly and widely. The Salvador Allende took over virtually all the great estates. By 1972 food production had fallen and food imports had risen. Also during 1971-72, the President Allende dusted off emergency legislation from the 1932 Socialist Republic to allow it to expropriate industries without congressional approval. He turned many factories over to management by the migrant workers and his cronies.

In his first year, Allende also employed Keynesian measures to hike salaries and wages, thus pumping up the purchasing power of the middle and working classes. This “consumer revolution” benefited 95 percent of the population in the short run because prices were held down and employment went up. Producers had no choice to rising demand except to hike prices which resulted in out of control inflation which reached an annual rate of more than 500 percent. By mid-1973 the economy and the government were paralyzed.

Pinochet launched a radical free-market economic program that, coupled with heavy foreign borrowing and an overvalued peso, triggered an economic recovery posting growth averaging 5 percent to 7 percent a year since 1984.

Key to the economic recovery was a group of mostly young economists known as the “Chicago Boys” for their studies under University of Chicago professor and Nobel laureate Milton Friedman. They lifted most state controls over the economy, privatized many sectors and strongly encouraged foreign investment with tax and other guarantees.

Pinochet tried to remain in control of the nation of 15 million people, but Latin America was gravitating toward civilian rule. On Oct. 5, 1988, he lost a national referendum on a proposal to extend his rule until 1997. He was forced to call a presidential election, which was won by center-left coalition candidate Patricio Aylwin.

Pinochet handed over power to Aylwin in March 1990 but remained army commander for eight more years and then was a senator-for-life, a position guaranteed under the constitution.

In 1998, Pinochet traveled to London to undergo back surgery, but was placed under house arrest after a Spanish judge issued a warrant seeking to try him for human rights violations. British authorities decided he was too ill to stand trial and sent him home in March 2000.

By virtue of the democratic institutions he installed, ghosts of the past dogged the retired general. More than 200 criminal complaints were filed against him, one involving the Caravan of Death.

But on July 9, 2001, a court ruled that Pinochet could not face trial because of his poor physical and mental health after court-appointed doctors diagnosed him with a mild case of dementia. A 2004 case against Pinochet was also stopped because he was found unfit to stand trial.

Since the mid-1990s, Pinochet led a mostly secluded life between his heavily guarded Santiago mansion and his countryside residence. He rarely appeared in public other than for checkups at the Santiago army hospital.

Associates said he lost interest in politics and rarely paid attention to news. During family gatherings he would remain mostly silent, looking frail and tired.

His health declined steadily. In 1992 he received a pacemaker. He suffered from diabetes and arthritis and had at least three mild strokes beginning in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Lucia, who headed a volunteer women’s organization dedicated to helping the poor, two sons and three daughters.

Merry Christmas to our Troops and the American Idea.

The Right Brothers are one of the best mainstream country ROCK bands in America. As a music business professional and a Right Wing political operative I respectively submit to the court of objective reality that this band and their music is an example of the reverse McCarthyism that permeates the music industry and is a standard litmus test at most Hollywood movie studios. If I had the resources I would have signed them two years ago.

However, the Hollywood culture of death and theft which is destroying the grand idea of America would rather forgo a market that is at least half the United States than to give the impression of supporting the American ideals of the Right. Instead they continue to exploit the innovators, creatives and the overwhelming number of musicians and actors, who believe that unregulated fair wages should be reflected at the top as well at the bottom for a healthy industry to thrive and this can be achieved with one simple capitalist value. Profit with Honor.

On one hand the leftist running the entertainment industry profess to be socialist but on the other hand adhere to the principals of capitalism with the exception of the above mentioned value. Hypocrisy at its finest.

The industry reeks of hedonism at any costs, which is why the consumer is fed up with paying the high prices for the executive’s egos.

I could go on especially about the unintended consequences of their moral carelessness but I am sure, because you have read this so far, you get the picture.

All I want to do is identify with real heroes like what is portrayed in this video. Not some dime store gangster, objectifying woman and slaming Jake (the police). Another hypocrisy of the Left.

The Origins of Media Drool

MediaDrool.com was first launched mid 2004 during the re-election campaign. It was meant to be a non partisan forum that allowed both sides of the spectrum to chance to duke it out. It was full of multi-media content such as audio, videos, photos, cartoons and commentary. The site was taken down when the editor threw his hat in the ring and ran for California State Assembly. This blog is the rebirth of Media Drool. To view the old Media Drool click here.
